About Us
If the Humboldt tragedy taught us anything, support dogs are needed across the country. Throughout the month of April, volunteers organized dogs from across the provinces so we could assist with the memorials held in the hometowns where the players had lived. The utilization of support dogs in the aftermath of tragic or traumatic events offers invaluable benefits for the emotional well-being and recovery of individuals affected. Halo dogs plays a crucial role in supporting survivors, responders, and communities during times of adversity.
Our organization has teamed up with handlers across the province to deploy dog trauma teams under the Halo banner providing support in various situations: court support, school deaths, along with organizational and community tragedies.
Halo Dogs are available to participate in scheduled and special events, including assisting daily in the community where they live. They will be available to be dispatched to other areas of Alberta in disaster and crisis to bring comfort to all affected, including first responders and volunteers.
At all stages, Halo Dogs will provide companionship to children, teens, adults, and seniors in various settings. They will be able to stimulate sensitivity, encourage good behaviors, participation in conversations, and relationship building; They will help open many dialogues with victims of sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and physical abuse; they will attend court if needed, and they will be able to sit with many grieving children and adults.
